Another Tortoise Disappears in San Francisco

​It's not every day that a tortoise gets pilfered. Even less frequently does a tortoise escape. But, according to a sign posted on the corner of Coleridge Street and Cortland Avenue, one of those two things happened recently to a Hermann Tortoise living here in the city.

Fliers up announcing the tortoise's disappearance have also been posted over at San Francisco's Animal Care and Control. According to its spokeswoman, Deb Campbell, exotic, small animals are often more difficult to reunite with their owners. "But it does happen," she said.

Just look at what happened to Arthur. Weeks after he was filched from the Randall Museum, somebody dropped off the 50-year-old reptile in the lobby.
