This surveillance footage led to a pair of arrests in the killing of Jinghong Kang

​After being recognized in grainy surveillance footage, a couple have been arrested by Oakland Police in connection to the mugging and murder of 45-year-old Google job interviewee Jinghong Kang, who was shot dead earlier this month after handing over $17.

George Huggins, 24, was arrested in a dramatic scene yesterday after his 33-year-old girlfriend, Althea Housley, was arrested on Saturday after being recognized by phone tipters.

After Housley purportedly admitted guilt in the killing -- they needed drug money -- police had been seeking Housley. The wanted man was first recognized by a passer-by on Webster Street, who incapacitated Huggins until police arrived yesterday afternoon.

​The couple are also suspected in a June 21 robbery on the 1700 block of Telegraph Avenue.

Both are facing robbery and murder charges.
