Vacation ends in fatal taxi crash
A man and woman from Ohio, visiting San Francisco on vacation, are the victims in a fatal taxicab crash, authorities have just announced.

The woman was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at San Francisco General Hospital from the scene of the 10:57 a.m. accident. The second passenger, described by authorities as her husband, died at 4:20 p.m., according to authorities.

The couple were on their way to the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental Hotel when the brakes failed on the DeSoto Cab Company Dodge Intrepid in which they were traveling, police said.

The driver attempted to stop the vehicle by taking the Mariposa Street off-ramp off of Interstate 280, where he drove through a fence before crashing into a concrete highway support, according to police.
