SFO to Offer Free WiFi

The San Jose Mercury News is reporting that San Francisco International Airport will offer free WiFi come September 1, joining other Bay Area airports Mineta San Jose International and Oakland International, which offered the free service as a way of attracting passengers.

SFO spokesman Mike McCarron revealed the decision was in response to customer demand. "In our passenger surveys, that was the one issue that came up over and over: They wanted free WiFi," he said. Part of an ongoing trend to make high-trafficked environments more connectivity friendly, the airport will be dropping its fee-based TMobile service as a convenience for wired passengers.

Web-savvy and thrifty air travelers rejoice! You've got one more reason to pat yourself on the back for buying the WiFi iPad.
