Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is becoming schooled in social media as he spends the day in the Bay Area, meeting with executives at Twitter, Google, Yandex, Cisco, and Apple. In what Twitter CEO Evan Williams
called "one of the most special days
in the history of Twitter," Medvedev posted his first tweet this morning while at Twitter headquarters. It said, "Hello everyone. I'm on Twitter, and this is my first tweet." Since then, he's become a regular, averaging a post per hour, including
two twitpics. You can follow Medvedev in English at
@KremlinRussia_E. Already he has amassed more than 10,000 followers, although he currently only follows his Russian account
(@KremlinRussia), President Barack Obama, and the White House. The day is young, however, and we expect he will become more prolific. Here's what we'd like to see him post next:
@SarahPalin Hey! I can see your house from my country, you crazy bitch.
@chatroulette Is that a ... ? OMG. That is NOT how we play roulette in
Russia.
The difference between our cultures...you Google, we Gulag. Just sayin'.
