FB seems to care more about the money than the people who help them make the money. Google is the only provider that protected it's customers information during the Bush Wiretapping years. • I shut down my Facebook account because of privacy concerns. And I am supposed to trust Google... yeah, right (said very sarcastically)

• Google has too much of our personal information centralized in one place. Control of the webs? Gmail? Desktop search? And now this? They may mean well, but this is just too much information in one place. If it were ever compromised, the risk is too great. And even the risk of accidentally abusing personal information increases as they engage in more and more things. It's a bad idea for it to be entering this market and I, for one, don't plan to join. The market needs more diversity of ownership. Talk about Big Brother and Too Big To Fail all rolled into one.

• i love google buzz, google wave, and other google products. in terms of social media, google fails miserably at creating user interfaces that appeal to everyone. google wave is amazing, but its ugly and you have to get other users to participate in waves. google buzz is amazing, but most people i know have shitty cellphones and dont even know google buzz is better when you use it with google maps. plus there isnt central place to stream buzzes from people that you do not follow. google can combine these wonderdul ideas, make a great user interface, and stream the data in one central location, put games and a myspace style music section in thw site and you got a winner guaranteed

• Killing Facebook, at least for me, would require an app that has all my friends on it and allows me to engage with them way better than FB does today - otherwise why switch? I don't see Google doing that anytime soon.

• Viva le competition. I'm no GOOG fanboi and I'm no FB fanboi and I likely won't use the killer and I dropped FB so I'm in no position to speak so kick me. But FB really ballocksed it up. Maybe I'll *consider* GOOG's killer once I read about what it can do, and can read up on what e.g. EFF says about its privacy/security worthiness.

• With google being able to offer so much in terms of integration of its existing products within the sphere of social networking, if they manage to piece all the parts together cohesively, they might just make something that will rival and eventually take users away from Facebook. All your alerts and notifications will show up right in your gmail inbox like regular mail. Google calendar and maps can be used to coordinate events and social gatherings. Have a native app for all of this for android powered phones flooding the market and you indeed have the making of one hell of a competitor. Will Facebook ever die? I hate it, but see it very much as a time capsule for my own account and would not wish to abandon it. But competition is always grand and perhaps get Facebook to not rest on its laurels and perhaps finally build a good app for android instead of the junk app they have right now.

• Google will fail unless it radically changes the social networking experience with its new social networking site. Google needs to change social networking in the way it changed searching. If it does, it will succeed; if it doesn't, it will fail.

• Can't wait to see what google offers, it's pretty well known their core focus isn't social. That's obvious with attempts like Wave and Buzz. However they are the kind of company that with every move they make will learn how to create successful social products. I'm sure they will eventually crack that nut. :-)

• Google has money to do anything, and it's like you mentioned, they are waiting for something to stick. Google's products and services are good, I think they can develop a good social media site

• I think google is too synonymous with search and mail. Whereas facebook is simply social networking.

• I mean, I would like it to kill Facebook, but calling anything any sort of 'killer' ensures that it will never do any such thing. 'Killer' needs to be replaced in the internet's lexicon with 'almost competitor'
