Boom! What was that?
Yesterday, after reports of a suspicious package at 18th and Ord were relayed to police, the bomb squad moved in and noisily detonated said package.

Yet whether the "suspicious device rendered safe" was a bomb, a box of used pinball machine parts, or, as in the past, some sap's gym bag is information the police have chosen not to publicize.

The official line coming out of the SFPD was simply that it was "a suspicious device rendered safe." Spokesman Officer Albie Esparza adds, "I'd love to tell you what it was, but I just don't know."

More as we know more.
