Former 49er Roger Craig Has a Fishing Show?
| Roger Craig has gone from beating The Fish in Super Bowl XIX to catching them on TV |
But, alas, the high-kneed, saucer-eyed running back does indeed have a fishing show -- making him perhaps the first man in world history to be able to place "Super Bowl champ," "fishing show host" and "underwear model" on his resume. And he wants to take you out on his boat with him.
Craig's televised angling endeavor will be broadcast on the World Fishing Network, which bills itself as " the nation's only 24-hour fishing lifestyle TV channel" (a second is probably unnecessary).
He'll be at Hi's Tackle Box in South San Francisco at 11 a.m. on May 22; fans have a chance to meet Craig, win $1,000 bucks and -- for one blessed angler -- luck into "the fishing trip of a lifetime," heading out to the high seas with the former underwear model and a national television crew.
In a first for us, the phone number provided by the PR maven organizing this Roger Craig fishing business did not go through. So we called Hi's Tackle Box to ask some questions.
They were looking forward to meeting Craig -- because he'd never been there before. When asked if any 49ers were regular customers, employee Jeff Dolak noted that former Super Bowl-winning coach George Seifert frequently dropped by during his coaching days -- and still does whenever he's in town. In fact, he's in town today.
"George is a sweetheart," confirms Dolak. But he has no fishing show.
