Alleged Lovers' Spat Induces Leap from Moving Vehicle
| Love is a many splendored thing... |
A Saturday police report details what appears to be a particularly messy lovers' quarrel -- undertaken at high speed. The cops' involvement started at 2:10 in the morning when officers responded to calls of a person lying in the street and discovered a seriously injured younger man on the road at Alemany and Ellsworth.
When asked, concisely, what the hell just happened, he was uncooperative. But he did see fit to note that he'd had an argument with his girlfriend. And he was drunk.
Things took a turn for the worse; the young man's condition grew more dire as hospital doctors determined he'd suffered a "brain injury."
After numerous calls to the injured man's girlfriend, police finally learned why his argument led to him being on the side of the road: She claimed he leaped from her car while she was driving.
As to why it took calls from strangers to report his grave condition, she told police that she "became lost" trying to get back to where her boyfriend had jumped from the vehicle. And, when she returned, he wasn't there
SF Weekly's requests to the police for more information on this case have not yet been returned.
