Report: FBI Arrests S.F. Man for Scores of Phone Threats to Pelosi

'Hello, Nancy...'

​The Associated Press today reported that the FBI has arrested a San Francisco man for scores of threatening phone calls he made to Rep. Nancy Pelosi's California and Washington, D.C. homes. It is alleged Gregory Giusti -- who will be arraigned tomorrow -- also dialed up Pelosi's husband's places of business, threatening to do away with her family home if she did not derail the federal health care bill.

Unnamed federal sources claim the man spoke directly to Pelosi on at least one occasion.

Our calls -- all polite, by the way -- to Pelosi's San Francisco and Washington, D.C. offices have not yet been returned.

MSNBC quotes unnamed federal officials stating Giusti will be charged with making calls "to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any person at the called number or who receives the communications." That charge carries a maximum two-year sentence.

"The calls were so numerous," one official told MSNBC, "the decision was made that something had to be done." Update, 3:30 p.m.: Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly just fired off the following release:

"After an investigation into threats made against Speaker Pelosi, an arrest has been made in San Francisco.  The Speaker thanks the FBI, the Capitol Hill Police, House Sergeant at Arms, and other law enforcement officials for their professionalism in this matter.  She will have no further comment at this time."
