Last year SF Weekly published a story about child molestation on airplanes. SFist even made fun of for getting "all "To Catch a Predator" on Airlines." But as today's Chron story demonstrates, the problem isn't going away.

This time, it was a 39-year-old Oakland man named Aboubacar Soumah who moved across the aisle to be next to a 14-year-old, according to an FBI investigator. Soumah then allegedly asked the girl questions about whether she was by herself, if she liked him, and if she would like to touch his lap. He repeatedly rubbed her arm, leg, and chest underneath her shirt, authorities told the Chron.

Now, you might be thinking that a once-in-a-blue-moon molestation of a child traveling alone is unavoidable. We beg to differ. In too many of these cases, flight attendants have seemingly failed to notice when grown men switch seats to be next to children traveling alone. That's unacceptable and there's no reason that airlines can't incorporate those checks into their policies.
