Alleged Serial Robber Jacob Schildgen Arrested

Details are forthcoming, but the man -- identified as 42-year-old San Franciscan Jacob Schildgen -- is charged with executing a virtual crime spree, with seven alleged robberies or attempted robberies between Feb. 22 and yesterday. It was two unsuccessful incidents, however, that stood out the most on the police report.
On Friday afternoon, the suspect attempted to pull off a robbery at around 4:40 p.m. at 18th and Castro -- but "left" empty-handed. Twenty minutes later and four-tenths of a mile down the road, a man police allege was the same would-be robber attempted to demand property from a shopkeeper. The victim said no -- and that was that.
Update: 3:20 p.m. -- The SFPD claims Schilden walked away from would-be victims who told him they "didn't have anything."
Update: 3:38 p.m.: According to a press release from the police, Schildgen is accused of robberies in a wider swath of San Francisco than just the Castro, as we earlier reported. He is suspected of knocking over -- or attempting to knock over and walking away from -- seven "coffee and beverage establishment(s)."
Along with a string of cafes and juice places Schildgen is accused of holding up with a feigned gun, he is charged with robbing the same downtown coffee joint twice -- on both Feb. 22 and March 14. "Thank you, come again" indeed.
