San Francisco's Medical Examiner has identified the man shot dead yesterday in Bayview as 29-year-old city resident Tony Lewis.

Police responding to reports of multiple gunshots discovered Lewis dead in a vehicle* yesterday at around 6:40 p.m. in the 700 block of Jerrold Avenue. There have not been any arrests, and police have not yet indicated there's any information available about the suspect.

Lewis is the city's eighth homicide of the year and the first since San Francisco's bloody weekend, in which Tuan Nguyen was stabbed to death and 19-year-old Lawon Hall was shot dead in front of Suede nightclub.

*The SFPD have determined that the car Lewis was discovered in was not his own. Spokesman Wilfred Williams told SF Weekly the police know whose car it is, but are not ready to release that information at this point.
