Supervisor's Namesake Buried Under Scads of Misdirected E-Mail

| Take note: This Eric Mar is a supervisor -- not a restaurant inspector. There is a difference. |
"This just recently started happening," said health department Eric Mar, who thinks some sort of IT re-routing has led to him getting dozens of Supervisor Mar's e-mails. "I left a message with [Mar's legislative aide] and told them they need to deal with this."
Health inspector Mar used to get a misdirected e-mail intended for his better-known namesake every once in a while back when the latter was first elected. But now he's swamped. And, to cap it off, Eric Mar is Eric Mar's supervisor (We didn't ask Eric if he voted for Eric).
The health inspector seems to be taking the IT glitch well -- but, with a laugh, he insists he's the senior Eric Mar in this city. The supervisor won't argue. He's the one with the middle initial in his e-mail address ("L"). And he's the one who is conciliatory.
"I wish I could have a different name so he didn't get so inundated," said the supervisor. "I'm sure I messed up his account."
