Party, Get Loaded, With the Supervisors -- For Haiti, For Haiti!
| Party! Party! For Haiti! For Haiti! |
Well, here's your chance. And to make things even better -- it's all for Haiti.
The Board of Supervisors has announced a Haiti relief fund-raiser from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5. For a suggested donation of $20, you can finally live your dreams of drinking your elected representatives under the table while helping earthquake victims (assuming that's the stuff of dreams).
SF Weekly's calls to the number the supes listed for "information" led to Supervisor John Avalos' office. When asked how Avalos became the host of party central, his legislative aide, Frances Hsieh, noted that it's because "John throws the best party."
Just about every supervisor is expected to attend -- so don't tell your anecdotes too loudly; you never know who'll be listening in. Mayor Gavin Newsom -- who has been very publicly feuding with Avalos of late -- has also been invited to attend.
Our calls to Newsom's press office have not been returned, so it's unclear if the mayor will take the supes up on their invitation. He certainly hasn't deigned to drop in on them at work.
Finally, it should be noted that Avalos and Newsom are not Facebook friends. But, then again, it doesn't appear Newsom has any Facebook friends. He only has "fans." And that's nice -- but fans do not give you a ride to the airport.
