​In a bizarre turn of events, the City Attorney's office yesterday sent out a news release devoid of news.

At 10:30 a.m. today, City Attorney Dennis Herrera has something to say -- but he isn't giving any hints as to what it is. A settlement in a "prominent and longstanding case" will be announced, but "under terms of the agreement, the parties are prohibited from discussing or disclosing it in advance of Thursday morning's scheduled announcement."

What is this, civic governance or 20 questions?

A little bird told us that this was "important" and there was a "monetary element" to it. So, even though we ought not to enable this kind of secretive behavior, we said we'd attend the presser today.
