Leave Your Cell Phone On BART -- On Purpose -- To Benefit the Environment

Time to recycle that museum piece, Mr. Gekko...
Anyone who has left behind a scarf, umbrella, or electronic device on a BART train and actually managed to recover it deserves the level of awe and adoration from the general public Harry Potter received after surviving Voldemort's death curse. Harry was The Boy Who Lived, and you would be The Person Who Got Their Blackberry Back.

Yet all of you who inadvertently left your cell phone on the 5:05 to Dublin/Pleasanton may have fallen, ass-first, into good karma. BART has teamed up with LG Mobile Phones to get you to do what you'd do anyway: Leave your mobile at the station. This time, however, it's all about recycling your cell, charger, or other electronic doo-dads.

Through July 6, you can drop off your unwanted e-detritus at the following BART stations:

  • Embarcadero;
  • Montgomery;
  • Powell;
  • Civic Center;
  • Oakland City Center/12th Street;
  • Dublin/Pleasanton

No news on when the scarf or umbrella recycling program will be unveiled.
