Last year, we sent a reporter to cover a press conference staged by a pair of yahoos who said they had photographic evidence of the dead Bigfoot chilling in their cooler. Her verdict:"It looked like a rug with teeth."

And yet, one need not leave the city to photograph mythical creatures. This year, however, an enterprising blogger or bloggers -- and he/she/they haven't yet returned our e-mail querying who the hell they are -- have launched a Web site titled "Where's Gavin." The site offers a free Muni fast pass (Value: $45. Value by summer: $55 or $60) to the first person who can snap a verifiable photo of Gavin Newsom riding San Francisco public transportation. Can you photo-document the green mayor behaving greenly in a non-photo-op? The gauntlet has been thrown.

Shots of Gavin Newsom, P.I. with a ballcap pulled low over his famous forehead and dropping a dime on so-called embezzling cable car operators aren't any good here. The contest's sponsors only want shots of Gavin on a bus, light rail vehicle, or trolley.

Anyone who enters also gets a round of drinks from the mysterious blogger(s). No word on what you win if you capture an image of Gavin Newsom drinking on Muni. Two fast-passes?
