Shocker: Guy Who Sues Over Negative Yelp Review Gets More Negative Yelp Reviews.

By now, everyone has probably heard of the Yelp review heard 'round the world. Christopher Norberg took issue with the billing practices of one Steven Biegel, a chiropractor at the Advanced Chiropractic Center on Valencia Street. Like many disgruntled consumers, Norberg expressed his dissatisfaction on Yelp. Biegel retaliated with a lawsuit.

What happens when you sue someone for writing a negative review on a review site? Users of the site start reviewing your lawsuit. Oh, dear.

A visit to Advanced Chiropractic Center's Yelp page reveals an underwhelming rating of two and half stars, with 32 of 58 reviews granting the business a paltry one star. The vast majority of the negative reviews have nothing to do with the establishment's chiropractic talents.

"Instead of helping broken backs, this guy really trys to break people's banks by suing a negative review...get over it, Dr. crybaby!," writes one Plunket P.

Tacking a colorful moniker on the end of the salutation "Dr" is a popular jab, as Biegal has also been dubbed "Dr.Litigious" by one clever Yelper, and "dr.sussie" by another who seems to think calling a man a girl is the highest form of disrespect: "(ya I called you a girls name cause you are a girl-y-man)." Indeed.

More than a few took the precaution of amending their finger-wagging with a disclaimer: "I first want to say I have never seen Dr. Beigel, I have no experience with his clinic, so please don't sue me for this review," wrote K.M.

One has to wonder if the rapidly plummeting ratings have made Biegel question the wiseness of his decision to sue.

In the meantime, Yelp has plans to expand to the U.K., where it is far easier to sue for defamation than in the U.S. Considering people's propensity for spewing angry vitriol across the Web with abandon, hilarity, and legal fees, are sure to ensue.

And, oh, yeah, please don't sue me over this blog post.

Update: Most of the negative one star reviews criticizing Biegel for the lawsuit have already been removed.
