Polling Place in Mission Experiencing Technical Difficulties
Voting just started in San Francisco and shenanigans are already transpiring. At the polling place at Bryant Elementary in the Mission, the ballot-counting machine stopped accepting ballots. Volunteers surmised that this was due to the fact that one ballot was submitted to the machine with a receipt attached. Voters were asked to submit their ballots to the auxiliary machine so that they could be counted later.
Several people waiting to vote got angry and left, with one woman declaring loudly that she would not vote if she didn't know her vote would be counted. While the frustration is understandable, try to remember these people are volunteers. If there are problems at your polling place call (800) 345-VOTE, the toll free number established by the Secretary of State's office to report voting irregularity. You can also call the ACLU with all your voting questions and concerns at 1-877-523-2792. --Andy Wright
