Mark "Papa" Guardado, president of the San Francisco chapter of the Hells Angels, was shot dead last night on the corner of 24th Street and Treat Avenue, just across the street from popular Mission hangout Dirty Thieves.
Persons quoted in the Chron article seem to have differing views of "Papa's" character: "His friends loved him...He really was an all-around good guy. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of people who are going to miss him dearly," said Guardado's attorney, Patrick Ciocca, echoing the sentiments of friends and chapter members. Victoria Shanahan, a Sonoma county prosecutor calls Guardado an "extremely dangerous gang member."
Either way, a makeshift shrine for Papa has sprung up at the intersection, and was attended by at least three people when I stopped by this morning around 8 am. --Andy Wright
