Dog Killer Pleads “No Contest”

Tough guy Ariel Aspedilla has pleaded no contest to kicking his girlfriend’s Chihuahua to death. No contest?! I’ll say it was no contest; the female dog weighed three-pounds! What kind of lowlife coward does that?
After spending the night of March 5 at his girlfriend’s in Redwood City, Aspedilla woke up to find her four-year-old dog, Chiquita, had taken a dump on the bed. Aspedilla flew into a rage ─ he probably assumed the turd was a critique of his sexual performance the night before ─ and kicked Chiquita four or five times breaking five of the dog’s bird-like ribs, puncturing both lungs and damaging her liver.
Apparently, the girlfriend was unaware of the brutal attack and thought Chiquita was sick. Aspedilla comforted his weeping girlfriend and accompanied her to the Sequoia Veterinary Hospital where he was very eager to accept the veterinarian’s initial diagnosis of an immune-system problem that caused internal bleeding.
But the necropsy not only showed that Chiquita had been brutally kicked to death, but also found signs of previous abuse.
Judge Clifford Cretan sentenced Aspedilla to nine months in jail, but allowed him to be released on time served. If we had a decent criminal justice system, Padilla would have been sentenced to at least a year of wiping sick dogs’ asses… with his tongue.
