This week's cover story documents the birth of Academy of Art University's sports programs -- its premature birth.
At least five of the academy's teams were holding full workouts with coaches prior to Aug. 11, the NCAA- and Pacific West Conference-mandated date in which teams can hold their first practice. And while someone at Kezar Pavilion did slam a door in SF Weekly's face on Aug. 6, the front doors do have windows in them. --Joe Eskenazi
