Was it ever polite to refer to accommodations as "transient rooms"? We're guessing no. But we know for certain that, after a week's worth of transients bedding down in said rooms, nothing gets the essence of tramp out of the air like a few splashes of 7-Up.
By the way, this unintentionally humorous sign has outlived the El Rosa Hotel, which is now simply called the Helen Hotel. No news on whether the 102-year-old structure still uses soda to perfume the air.
Remember, if you see odd signs in San Francisco, don't keep them to yourself. Whip out your camera, snap a shot, and send it to me.
