Small Turnout for Nude Torch Run

The protesters weren't the only ones stood up by the Ferry Building today. George Davis (aka the "naked yoga guy") hung around outside Tacqueria Pancho Villa for his army of nudists, but only two showed up. So instead of stripping down at 12:30 as planned, the nude run started an hour late, and only once the protesting crowd grew tired of the sidelines and started a parade of sorts through the streets.

"There are children here!" shrieked one pro-Olympics mama holding a large China flag. "Why are you naked!?" asked another. The original Olympic athletes were nude, Davis pointed out. And he and his barefoot posse marched on.

Common Sense says:

What losers. I think their numbers bear that out...

Claudia says:

If you find nudity offensive This is supposed to be a free country, and in a free country one cannot be prosecuted for the choices of another. Sure, many people who have something better to do than think are offended by nudity. Many others are not. Clearly, being offended is a personal choice, and people have a right to make that choice, but no one should be required to cater to that choice as a matter of law.for its own sake, ask yourself WHY.Naturist looks like you and I and come from all walks of life. You will find it to be a relaxing lifestyle that is free of the daily stress we all experience. Naturist groups like naturistspace.org are looking for people who are open minded and want to enjoy the company of others of a like mind.

Stone Man says:

This is so disgusting it makes me want to throw up. Why are we letting exhibitionists expose themselves to children in our city's streets? These guys should be told they either put their pants on or else they can go to jail.

Dave says:

I think we need to be less uptight about our bodies. I believe there are occaisions when nudity is not only allowable but makes perfect sense while swimming or on a beach in your backyard gardening etc. I understand this was a form of political protest again I feel this is legit. I have seen plenty of these to protest this or that and the media react so it is getting attention. I feel kids can have this explained to them. Now there is a line when the behavior of the nude person is lewd or pornographic it needs to be restricted. I just think we are getting to the point where we veiw all nudity this way not even thinking about the context of it. There are some fantastic works of art down through the ages of nudes. We need to remember not all nudes are lewd and they serve to remind us we are humanbeings not machines. Queen Victoria is long dead but the swimming costumes that came out of that age are still in vogue. We are wasting time and energy making silly bits of clothing that really conceal very little. Simply veiwing a nude humanbeing never hurt anyone, live and let live.

Tam Reutgen says:

There's a time and place to be nude. While taking a shower for example, or when alone with your partner. Nudists have got places they can go to and be with people like themselves who don't mind this stuff, but the street ain't the place for it. Those folks who want to expose themselves to strangers need therapy.
