State Supreme Court Hears Arguments in Gay Marriage Case Today

Categories: Politics

gay_wedding.jpgThe state Supreme Court will carry out a three-hour hearing on the constitutionality of same sex marriage today. An article in today's Chronicle reports that much of the hearing will consist of gay couples describing the difficulties they face as a result of their inability to wed. Andrew Pugno, chief counsel for the opposing side, put the whole thing in perspective:

"Our system would fall apart if we changed the law every time a small minority felt personal anguish about what the law does and does not say. I have personal anguish that I pay too much taxes, but no one feels sorry for me."
Poor Pugno! Thank you for putting into perspective the suffering of marginalized gay couples everywhere. A ruling is expected in 90 days. — Andy Wright
