Oops: Pentagon Accidentally Sent Taiwan Nuclear Material. Again.

Categories: Government

dr_strangelove.jpgAn article in today's Guardian UK reports that the Pentagon sent Taiwan an unexpected shipment of electrical fuses for Minutemen nuclear missiles. Taiwanese officials were expecting a far less exciting shipment of helicopter batteries. This isn't the first time we've sent Taiwan a surprise package of explody contraband. We inadvertently sent them their first box of fuses in 2006. The government has been having a lot of trouble keeping tabs on their nuclear wares recently. In September, a B-52 was accidentally armed with not one, but five nuclear warheads, and flown from North Dakota to Louisiana. Neither the pilot or the crew knew they were traveling with nukes. Maybe the Pentagon should start labeling its boxes more clearly? –Andy Wright
