New Laser Will Cure Cancer, Fix Your Cavities, and Realize All Your X-Man Fantasies
Gizmodo has a post up about an awesome new invention that might do away with the side effects cancer patients suffer when undergoing chemotherapy. A laser, created by researchers at the University of Missouri, zaps cancer cells without harming the healthy ones around them. The laser can also be used by surgeons and dentists to help patients without resorting to invasive drilling and cutting. And last, but definitely not least, the laser can "melt a very thin strip around titanium micro- and nanoparticles and ultimately control the porosity of the bridge connecting the bone and the alloy. The procedure allows the particles to bond strongly, conforming to the two different surfaces." In English, that means your aspirations to be just like Wolverine may no longer be limited to taping butter knives to your knuckles on Halloween. –Andy Wright
