Milpitas Teacher Who Showed Silent Scream Resigns
When I was a freshman in high school, my social studies teacher told me that every time a woman has an abortion they rip out part of her uterus.* Therefore, the more abortions you had, the less uterus you had, and the lower your chances of pumping out a wanted fetus. Needless to say, I canceled all the abortions I had scheduled for that week.
Well, things have changed since I was young. A Milpitas teacher went one better and showed five classes of Russell Middle School eighth graders the anti-abortion classic, Silent Scream. First-year teacher Randy Yang screened clips from the film that Planned Parenthood calls "riddled with scientific, medical, and legal inaccuracies" on Jan 23. The next day he was put on paid leave. Two weeks later, Principal Laura Foegal wrote to parents saying the film had been "shown without direct permission." The San Jose Mercury News reported yesterday that Yang's saga has come to a close, as the Milpitas school district board accepted his resignation in a closed session. *Not true. — Andy Wright
