I Wasn't Approved for the SFPD Special Patrol Force and All I Got Was This Lousy Gun

Wed Mar 12, 2008 at 10:42:42 AM

sherrif.JPGWillie Adams isn't a cop, but the SFPD gave him a gun and a uniform. Adams is part of the 76-year-old Patrol Special force that offers added protection to merchants who hire them, according to an article in today's Examiner. In the 1970's there were about 400 of the special officers. There are only 24 left, and Adams isn't really one of them. The supervisor of the patrol, Jane Warner, is charged with arming Adams and allowing him to work with the patrol even though he failed a background check because he lacked "moral turpitude." In 2007 Adams was in a relationship with a man he claimed was a criminal informant who tipped off cops who raided Adams' house, taking his uniform, gun, badges, and baggies of meth and marijuana. That's why you don't date criminal informants. The Police Commission will have a hearing tonight to discuss the allegations against Warner. — Andy Wright

Yikes! I hope it's not considered a background check failure to lack moral turpitude.
