Aaron Peskin: I won't pay you a penny over $150,000

Categories: Politics

aaron_peskin.jpgHow much is too much to pay a city staffer? Supervisor Aaron Peskin thinks it’s anything over $150,000 and the San Francisco Sentinel reports today that he will seek an ordinance abolishing positions whose salaries exceed that amount. From Peskin’s announcement:

“As we all know, in light of the ballooning deficit for the coming year reported in the joint report at at $338 million dollars, I think that it is imperative, colleagues, that we begin to pare down the current year budget…Not just through non-spending or freezing of funds, but actually through affirmative actions by the Board to amend the annual appropriations ordinance and the salary ordinance…”
Peskin said not once, but twice, that he doesn’t “relish” the job of introducing the bill to the Board next Tuesday. –Andy Wright
