Oaksterdam University: Yes, It's For Real

So I guess that ad on the back page of the Weekly wasn't a scam after all: The AP reports that dozens of students have graduated from Oaksterdam University, the downtown Oakland institution of higher learning (you saw that one coming a mile away) that readies students to work in the medical marijuana industry. Actually it's just a two-day weekend session that runs $200, and it's booked solid through May.

Lessons include pot cultivation, cooking, strain identification, as well as a crash course in the sticky situation between the legality of California state law and the not-so-pot-friendly Feds. Here's the course description for "Cooking/Concentrates 101":

"Who knew that the fine art of baking and cooking could be so fun with cannabis? Hundreds of edible cannabis products are now available, including: confections, cheesecakes, salad dressings, and drinks. Learn about creating concentrates and extracts, regulating dosages, packaging, and food safety. Watch a step by step cannabutter demonstration. Learn about the different extraction methods and equipment used."

Pot salad dressing? This sounds a hell of a lot more useful than about half of the electives I took in college.
