Man Dies Protecting Daughter From Gunfire Midday on New Year's Eve

For all of you grouching about being cold and wet, here's this gem from New Year's. According to some of our snitches:
11:40 a.m. on Monday morning (12/31/07) at Brookdale Ave./Santos St. (Visitacion Valley area). Several people had been wounded in a drive-by shooting. One of the victims, a 30 yr. old Black male, died at the scene. It was reported that he was shielding his 9 yr. old daughter who received a grazing wound to the thigh. SFPD reported that there were 3 other male victims (no other information was available for this report) who were transported to SFGH ED. Witnesses reported that a maroon 4-door sedan with 4 male suspects drove by the victims. One of the suspects fired several rounds from the vehicle as it sped off.
