Big Sigh: San Francisco, NYC Rents Highest In The Country

san_francisco_gg.jpg

As if we needed to be reminded: tenants in San Francisco and New York City pay the highest rents in the country, with SF renters paying an average of $1,904 a month (up a staggering 7.8 percent from last year) -- the fastest growing rents in the country -- making our fair city one of Forbes worst cities for renters. Sigh. And don't even think about buying: median home prices hover around $800,000. Yeesh. On the other end of the spectrum there's lovely Columbus, Ohio where the average rent is $626 a month. Again, sigh.
