We know, we know. On a Weblog you’re supposed to link to someone else’s work, write a snarky comment, or post a LOLcat. And we do. But, sometimes, God help us, we break a big news story.

Here are a few of the stories you’d have learned about before the average bear if you read us religiously:

— We were the first publication to run a story about the city’s million-dollar public housing cameras having not contributed one iota to capturing violent criminals on film.

— We broke the story that San Francisco bumbled its Halloween plans to the point where it called off this year’s Castro festivities.

— San Francisco property owners are getting hit with a new tax –- and the city hasn’t decided how much it’s goanna be.

— When Chicken John Rinaldi qualified for matching funds for the city, The Snitch was there.

When the city decided to pull the rug out from under Rinaldi, we knew even before he did.

— Gavin Newsom wouldn’t honor a cult leader with his own day, would he?

— We were the first media outlet to identify the unfortunate man who died at the Minnesota-San Francisco football game on Dec. 9.

— After authorities shot a Golden Gate Park coyote, we had an exclusive interview with the beast’s grieving mother.
