2007th Heaven: Recapping The Snitch’s Most Glorious Year on Record

By Joe Eskenazi
The good year 2007 gave us bunker oil in the bay, bodies stacking up in San Francisco like chopped wood, and the birth of the Web page you’re now reading: The Snitch.
See? It wasn’t such a bad year after all (we hear bunker oil has a slightly piquant tang).
In order to celebrate our first year on God’s green Earth, we’re going all British on you and making a miniseries:
Today: Our Most-Read Stories
Tuesday: Breaking News on The Snitch
Wednesday: Analyze This!
Thursday: Rather Than Write 1,000 Words – Here’s a Picture
Friday: You are There
Part I – I Read it on The Snitch!
The results are in! And, whether it’s indicative of the decline of Western society, the ascent of Google, or both, four of our top five most-read stories include the words “booze,” “gay,” “stabbers”, and “porn” in their headlines. So, without further boozy, gay, stabbing porn ado:
CLICK "MORE" TO (RE-)READ OUR MOST-READ STUFF!
No. 5: “Who among us doesn’t love Israeli porn?”
No. 4: “Cleverest. Halloween Costume. EVER.” (Yours truly snaps one photo in the Castro and it’s my most-“read” post. The moral of this story: Don’t bother working hard, kids)
No. 3: “Stiletto stabbers still at large”
No. 2: “John Cusack is gay”

No. 1: “Booze and babes” – it’s Matt Smith’s provocative Gavin Newsom comic.
Incidentally, the good folks over at Google Analytics inform us that more than 60 percent of our traffic comes via search engines. The nonsearch site that gets us the most referrals is Wikipedia. And, of late, the No. 1 most-searched phrase resulting in hits for us is “Ron Paul” (but before the Paulsters get all high and mighty, know that “Ron Paul” just barely beat out “glory hole”).
Finally, a quick survey of our Web statistics necessitates the following paragraph so as to garner more hits:
Glory hole Glory hole Glory hole Glory hole Glory hole Glory hole Glory hole
Fisting Fisting Fisting Fisting Fisting Fisting Fisting Fisting Fisting Fisting Fisting
Ron Paul Ron Paul Ron Paul Ron Paul Ron Paul Ron Paul Ron Paul Ron Paul Ron Paul
