San Francisco Election Results Delay Likely -- Blame the Voting Machines

The never-ending saga of fucked-up voting machines took yet another confusing turn last week when city elections officials announced that results for the San Francisco mayoral election (that's this Tuesday, in case anyone cares) may not be available until as long as three weeks after the fact. That's because new voting machine rules require each and every ballot to be inspected by hand. Three weeks! Whatever will we do? The suspense is already killing me. Will Gavin win by 60 percent or 55 percent? Incidentally, isn't San Francisco supposed to be high-tech or something?
