And On The 8th day, SF Government Rested -- Serious InAction

Twas’ the week after Thanksgiving and all through the city not a creature was stirring except one committee.

Seriously, there’s only one Board of Supervisors committee meeting this week. Just one. It’s like the flu pandemic happened and nobody told me.

Land Use Committee meeting? Canceled. Does this mean San Francisco’s run out of land?).

Budget and Finance Committee? Canceled. Because we trust Gavin to manage our money – he’s not the type to make a devastating personal mistake under the pressures of office.

Full Board of Supervisors? They don’t feel like meeting. Just … don’t feel like it. It’s not like they’re public servants or something. Get off their backs!

Hey – why would the Board of Supervisors want to skip a meeting? Here are my top 10 guesses:

10) Stoned 9) Chris Daly said something really mean and now everything grinds to a halt in order to give Michela Alioto-Pier the space she needs to recover 8) They’ll all be helping animals affected by the oil spill 7) Meetings? We are WAY too progressive for meetings 6) Sean Elsbernd finally snapped and now they’re all dead 5) Out helping Tom Ammiano campaign for higher office 4) Went on a tour of Alcatraz 3) Orgy 2) Decided meeting only makes things worse 1) There’s just nothing to do in San Francisco

Those are my guesses, anyway.

It is true that on Thursday the City Operations and Neighborhood Services Committee will be meeting, but, they’ll just be approving grant money the city’s received – an event so dull that I doubt they’ll even remember it after it happened.

See you next week.
