Chronicle Building Landmarked, Up for Sale in Same Week

Today, the Chron's business section has some buried news about the impending sale and movement of their building and reporters. Oh, the irony to learn then that the City of San Francisco was to give Hearst Corp.'s batcave some type of award for historical preservation blah blah blah this week. From this week's SFGovernmentInAction:

"... Speaking of empty calories, the supes will be voting to declare the San Francisco Chronicle building a city landmark. Why? Because it’s been around since 1890 without losing its historic character. ... According to the city’s proclamation, the Chronicle has been extremely careful to preserve the building’s original features and to keep significant architecture intact. ..."

I sincerely hope Hearst got that award, and that they pass it on to the building's rightful new owners, Jollibee. --David Downs
