The Warm Bosom of Booze: Matt Smith's Newsom Comic
9 Comments:
Newsom certainly sounds like a spoiled, unattractive character, but I'm not exactly getting the evil portrayal of the billionaires, at least in terms of this comic. Building a stem cell research center is a bad thing? Alright, the Treasure Island development is hardly altruistic, but what's wrong with a "second San Francisco?" The first one's pretty good. As far as the opera goes, well, it's an opera...I don't know...it's an opera...
please stop. you have no real insight, just attitude, and you pass it off as journalism. and now you're "blogging" how cute.
please stop, stop embarassing yourself and your bosses in Phoenix.
Hilarious, f the unthinking Newsom sycophants in this city.
this is pretty harsh...but i'm not feeling any sympathy for the guy. nicely done. i'd like to see a comic attacking his inability to fix local issues (affordable housing, muni, the ever-present homelessness, crime, economic disparity...the list goes on).
great artwork and story line of another imperfect hero.
our gilded gav continues to sparkle through every flaw in the eyes of the townsfolk.
it brings to mind another... though lighter.. comic book character, richie rich... 'the poor little rich boy'.
he often offended his benefactors with his whimsical activities, as well.
and speaking of the puppeteers... don't forget the string of mayoral sockpuppets that proceeded our honorable nuisance in office.
the difference was the way they quickly tarnished.. not the making of a super hero at all.
i'll be eager to see what mr's newsom and smith yet spawn.

Wow! Brilliant, Matt. Nice one.
That took some balls. Yet another reason why the Weekly is now my weekly of choice. (Sorry Bruce and Tim.)
