San Francisco's pedaling perps! (And the mustachioed cops who ticket them)

As reported in this week's article "Bicycle Grief," the traffic cops have been coming down pretty heavy on bicyclists lately. To illustrate the point, Ted Strawser of the SF Party Party recently sent around this video (also below this post). It shows a posse of motorcycle cops lying in wait for cyclists who blow through a stop sign in the Haight -- and it's punctuated with pointed shots of cars rolling through the intersection.

It's not clear if Strawser shot the video himself -- if so, nice camera work, Ted! We liked the way you held steady even while the motorcycle cop repeatedly bobbed towards the camera, forcing you to get up close and personal with his mustache.

Strawser referenced the video in his outraged email to a bunch of city officials about what he called a campaign of "selective enforcement." But as it got passed around various listservs it picked up some contradictory comments about how, you know, even people who aren't burning evil fossil fuels should obey the law. -- Eliza Strickland
