Bruce Brugmann: The No-Fluff Zone

Last week we told you about an obvious goof on Bruce Brugmann by a judge in this year’s Association of Alternative Newsweeklies journalism awards contest. The Bay Guardian’s anti-union publisher/editor/Burl Ives stunt double posted his response to the item after our spam filter swallowed his e-mail (sorry about that, Brucie); he confirmed that he had never heard of Cory Zurowski, who joked in his judge’s bio on the AAN site that he once worked as Brugmann’s “pro bono fluffer.”

The reference to Brugmann has since been disappeared from Zurowski’s bio. Fortunately, thanks to Google’s fabulous cached feature, the unabridged version lives on.

Whether Brugmann had a hand in altering the bio doesn't interest us enough to investigate; we'll leave that to Matier & Ross, after they get to the bottom of their very own watergate. But if it was you, Brucie, might we humbly suggest that you devote your energy to more important matters – like, say, paying your interns. --Martin Kuz
