Ghostbusters Video Game Details Revealed
Now that GTA IV is out, time to look forward to another title. Check out the video interview above to find out more about the upcoming Ghostbusters game, which promises voice acting from the original cast. It'll be worth the wait and the price tag, if only to hear brand new snappy one-liners from Bill Murray. --Oscar Pascual
GTAIV Comes Out Tomorrow, Everyone Goes Nuts
(Warning: This video is totally NSFW)
Can you feel it? That's Grand Theft Auto fever, and it's spreading. UPS drivers are stealing copies, droves of nerds are lining up until midnight for it, and the press has everything GTAIV covered. Feeling left out? You too can be part of the hysteria. Just head out to participating Best Buy or GameStop stores tonight at midnight and secure your very own copy of a video game that's bigger than the Beatles, Jesus, and breast implants combined. --Oscar Pascual
Grand Theft Auto IV Leaked Online
![]()
If you don't feel like standing out in the cold in the middle of the night like you're in a Soviet bread line next Tuesday, here's a quick alternative. Beat the midnight rush and download the GTAIV bootleg rip for Xbox 360 now, which just leaked on the Internet a few days before next week's release date. Of course, you could risk the chance of getting banned from Xbox Live, meaning no multiplayer for you. There's the rub. --Oscar Pascual
Grand Theft Auto IV Midnight Release Announced for SF Best Buy Stores
![]()
The most hotly anticipated game of the year comes out next Tuesday, April 29, and like the good nerd you are, you've already planned to call in sick for work. That means you can waste your Monday night lining up with 200 other like-minded dickheads and morons for the midnight release of Grand Theft Auto IV. Since you literally can't sleep on it, Best Buy announced its list of stores across America that plan to hold a midnight opening, which include the SF store on Geary Blvd., as well as the one under the freeway on Harrison. And if you plan on meandering outdoors at a frigid parking lot until the wee small hours of the morning, information is subject to change, so just call to make sure. --Oscar Pascual
Silent Hill 5 Announces Title, Release Date
If you're a fan of dilapidated hospitals, ridiculously scary creatures, and mangled zombie nurses with perfect breasts, I'll bet you can't wait for Silent Hill 5, the latest installment in the horror video game series. Gamer site Kotaku says that wait is only a few months away. The game is officially titled Silent Hill: Homecoming, and is slated for release at the end of September. If you can't wait that long to get thoroughly creeped out, the shots and stills in the video above should be enough for a good spine-tingly fix. --Oscar Pascual
Grand Theft Auto IV Opening Expected to Eclipse Hollywood Blockbuster Records
![]()
Variety has reported that this year's most highly anticipated video game, Grand Theft Auto IV, will have opening numbers that could put Hollywood to shame. The game is expected to sell over six million units and exceed $400 million in its first week. That would be close to, if not greater, than the No. 1 box office opener of all time, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, which grossed $404 million. We'll see if GTAIV can complete that mission after its April 29 release. -- Oscar Pascual
Resident Evil 5 Developers Unveil Game Features

Once you can get past the whole rasicm controversy, the latest Resident Evil installment should have you pretty excited. Sure, you're shooting black zombies, but keep in mind that an evil pharmaceutical corporation made them that way. For those who understand that tactful subtext cancels out overt racist tones, check out the latest video interview with the game developers. The game footage should have your forward-thinking mouth salivating. -- Oscar Pascual
Ghostbusters Video Game Site Goes Live Today

Although this game could end up as mediocre as The Godfather game, Ghostbusters has had a significant impact on my life, much like basically anyone born in the 80s. It could explain why everyone's going apeshit about the upcoming video game, which launched its website today. Watch a teaser trailer, check out some impressive screenshots, then wait in nerdy anticipation for September. -- ASD Staff Report
Relax with a Violent Video Game
![]()
According to a study by psychologists at Middlesex University, a nice bloody, violent video game is a great way to soothe and relax your jitters away:
“There were actually higher levels of relaxation before and after playing the game as opposed to experiencing anger but this did very much depend on personality type,” said Middlesex University’s Jane Barnett, who is also an International Game Developers Association committee member.
Duh. I could have told you years ago that riddling an enemy soldier's body with an MP5 is way more cathartic than squeezing a foam stress ball. Now excuse me while I go burn some incense while I play Call of Duty 4. -- ASD Staff Report
Final Grand Theft Auto IV Trailer
Listen to some dudes discuss the game footage from the final GTAIV trailer. The game comes out April 29, as if you needed a reminder. -- ASD Staff Report
Grand Theft Auto IV Map, Multiplayer Screenshots Leaked
![]()
As the April 29 release date steadily approaches, GTA-itis is everywhere. Gamer site Kotaku is spreading the disease by revealing screens from Grand Theft Auto IV 's multiplayer mode, as well as showing us photos of the fold-out map included with the game. Better find a Liberty City hospital to get that itis checked. -- ASD Staff Report
Rock Band Lands on Nintendo Wii in June

Just when you thought that Wii couldn't possibly get any more fun, Harmonix and MTV recently announced that the ultra-mega fun Rock Band game will be released on the Nintendo Wii. Just like its Xbox and PS3 counterparts, Wii's Rock Band bundle will come with the game as well as mic, drums, and guitar controllers for $170. It comes out June 22, so just keep patient with Super Smash Bros. Brawl until then. -- ASD Staff Report
Paul Oakenfold Premieres Bourne Conspiracy Soundtrack

Producer/DJ Paul Oakenfold has been in the lab perfecting the soundtrack to this year's highly anticipated Bourne Conspiracy video game, and now he's ready to show the world. Oakenfold intends to do just that tomorrow, March 25, during "The Bourne Sessions," a concert from Miami's Winter Music Conference that will be broadcast live on Yahoo! Live and www.bournesessions.com. The performance will feature songs from the game soundtrack, as well as a guest appearance from Cee-Lo of Gnarls Barkley. -- ASD Staff Report
New Call of Duty 4 Maps Previewed at San Jose GameStop March 28
![]()
Call of Duty 4 is like digital crack, and we'll be getting a fix with a pack of four new maps available for download on April 3. If you can't wait that long, GameStop in San Jose is holding a premiere event showcasing the latest maps. Register at the site to be part of the evening of Q&A's with the developers, a trivia contest, and total destruction and choas throughout the new battlefields. They might even give you an Xbox Live token that lets you download the new pack for free. We are about to achieve victory, comrades! -- Oscar Pascual
