Bay Area Record Fair Is Launching a Second Edition in September

More BARF!
Important news, record fans. The Bay Area Record Fair -- which launched a daylong celebration of locally sourced sounds at Thee Parkside in February -- is coming back for a second edition. Maybe organizers
Father/Daughter Records and Professional Fans were juiced by the fact that we gave them a Best Of award in May, or maybe they're just obsessed with gathering the music-minded multitudes of the Bay Area for daytime drinks, vinyl dealing, and live music. Very likely they're just crazy. In any case, Bay Area Record Fair Version 2.0 is coming to Thee Parkside on Saturday, Sept. 27, for you to buy music direct from your favorite local labels, win stuff, and see bands (names of bands yet to be determined). Also, this Thursday, July 3, Bay Area Record Fair is hosting a pop-up shop at California Academy's Nightlife, where Two Gallants and Jamie Jams are also spinning records.

Here are some of the local music purveyors planning to ride the second wave of BARF:

1-2-3-4 Go!
Aerobic International
Alternative Tentacles
Antenna Farm
Asian Man
Bright Antenna
Captcha
Castle Face
Chapter Eleven
Constellation Tatsu
Crime On The Moon
Dark Entries
Empty Cellar
Fat Wreck Chords
Father/Daughter
Flesner
Fourth Row
Grazer
Loglady
Melters
Midheaven
Moon Glyph
Parks & Records
Polyvinyl
Record Label Records
Side With Us
Slumberland
Superior Viaduct
Tankcrimes
Tompkins Square
Tricycle
Twelve Gauge
Voltaire

All of which (and more!) are gathering on Sept. 27 at Thee Parkside, presented by SF Weekly and Amoeba Music. Entry is free from noon-on, but you can get in early bird-style (at 11 a.m.) for merely $5. There will be raffles for goodness, pukey tote bags, and live bands performing. Plus lots of chances to support your local music everything. Say it with us now: A BARF-y Saturday is a beautiful Saturday.
