Will You Get All of Jeopardy's Alt-Rock Questions Right?
Jeopardy, the greatest game show in the history of the world, and the fourth-greatest TV show of all time (behind Salute Your Shorts, Alf, and The Golden Girls) is usually not looked upon as being cool. This is dumb, but whatever: Jeopardy is cool, and Jeopardy nerds know it, and this week, the show proved it. By having a category all about alt-rock.
What do you think?
This was in single Jeopardy, so with no questions about Sparklehorse or the Wipers here, serious "alt" fans are in for a cakewalk. Though it was still a delight to hear stodgy old Alex Trebek stumble over the word "alt" a bunch of times and to watch a contestant get one very easy question wrong. (IDIOT!) How will you do? Watch and/or read the questions below:
$200: This "numeric" Trent Reznor act keeps hammering away, hitting the 2013 Billboard alt charts with "Came Back Haunted."
$400: The 2003, '05, and '07 Grammys for Best Alternative Album went to this Detroit duo.
$600: The punnily titled "Diane Young" is a 2013 alt hit for this "undead" band.
$800: This [photo of robots] out-there Parisian electronica duo gave us the 2013 hit "Get Lucky."
$1000: The video for "Glosoli" by Sigur Ros included some of the hot springs from this island, their homeland.
So, how'd you score?
Now the only thing Jeopardy could do to become cooler would be to have a category on Berlin techno, or, like, fixies. Give it a couple years.
