Listen: An Unreleased Velvet Underground Song For the 45th Anniversary of White Light/White Heat
To properly celebrate the landmark record's 45th year in existence, Universal Music is putting out a three-disc reissue of the Velvet Underground's White Light/White Heat on Dec. 3.
The 30-track album, culled together by John Cale and the late Lou Reed over the months before his death, contains a superfan's treasure trove of bonus material, like outtakes, new mixes, and rare live performances -- like this one, of the previously unreleased track "I'm Not a Young Man Anymore," apparently recorded in 1967 at the Gymnasium, on E. 71st Street in New York.
Universal dropped the sweetly gritty-bluesy track today to tease the reissue:
Over at Dangerous Minds, Thurston Moore and Blondie's Chris Stein offer some sweet Lou Reed memories and personal reflections on the song. And Consequence of Sound has the reissue's full track list and a couple other nuggets.
Tuesday afternoon just got way better.
