The Scariest Song You'll Hear Today Is This Brain Having a Seizure

Listen to this...
This is really freaky. Stanford scientists Josef Parvizi and Chris Chafe took the electric signals of a brain experiencing a convulsive seizure and converted them into tones that fall within the range of the human voice. The result is terrifying -- a kind of ghostly lazer-bass ambience, or a theremin with way too much vibrato, or a haunting howl sample stuck on repeat. The idea here is to create a kind of brain-stethoscope that could help scientists understand what's happening to a person in real-time. Until then, they've found a new way to make completely unnerving music. What does this sound like to you?

What a wonderful idea. The study of something opened up to a new sensory input. To hear what is happening combined with all the visual data we have, may lead to a breakthrough in treatment of even eradication of seizures. It may cause us to think in different ways that just wouldn't happen with the previous data.

that sounds like a fly buzzing and a didgeridoo. It also sounds like an exorcism.

Scary, especially for people who have had or have seizures...

This is seriously distressing. This is stuff that actually happens to people and should be treated with respect, not posted as 'interesting' or 'entertaining'.

Ugh. That was as painful as watching what happens to a person’s body while that brain is overacting like that. All systems are racked while the seizure is happening.

That was horrible. Especially seeing what is happening to the person’s body ( I am a nurse ) while this is happening for more than two minutes. Simply horrible. That brain is taking a beating.

We don't even know what 'normal' is supposed to sound like so I don't know how people can say it sounds terrifying or scary.  Slap the stamp of 'Stanford study' on it and a kid playing on a theremin becomes scientific advancement.

Lol, just useless...

^ Is this chick for real?  What are you like 8?

@Sandy Cowell Just because it's interesting doesn't mean it isn't being treated with respect. The purpose of this is not to entertain anyone. It's to create a degree of understanding. Dismount your high horse, please.
