Vinyl Dreams opens this Saturday.
This weekend, the Lower Haight welcomes the addition of a new electronic dance music-focused record store in Vinyl Dreams at 593 Haight St. The name ought to be familiar to club-oriented vinyl collectors -- for the past two years it's floated in the ether, serving local DJs as a series of pop-ups and as a web shop operated from owner Mike Bee's (a.k.a. Michelangelo Battaglia) Steiner Street apartment.

With a nod to Haight St.'s dance music heritage -- such as long-gone venue The Top and former 593 Haight occupant Tweakin' Records -- he explains his aesthetic as, "good music, good friends, a love of sound and dancing, low pretension, an eye for design and the will to rave 'til dawn." Sounds like just the shot-in-the-arm that San Francisco's music retail scene needs. This Saturday marks the "soft opening" launch party for its new permanent digs, and will feature in-store DJ sets by Tyrel Williams, Dave Aju, Joel Conway, and, of course, Battaglia himself. The festivities start around noon and run 'til 10 p.m. Take a look while you're enjoying the neighborhood's art walk.
