Morrissey Reportedly Hospitalized with Pneumonia in San Francisco

Morrissey canceled Saturday's show at S.F.'s Regency Ballroom -- his fourth sequential cancelation in the Bay Area -- because he was hospitalized with double pneumonia, according to reports.

After battling a bladder infection, a bleeding ulcer, and Barrett's esophagus in recent weeks -- and then announcing that he was on the mend -- the 53-year-old former Smiths singer called off yet another San Francisco show, after reportedly being rushed to the hospital. He's now set to play the Warfield on April 30 and the Regency on May 1.

Pneumonia can be a life-threatening condition, but Morrissey performed Friday, the night before his S.F. show, in Portland. A statement on the Moz fan site True to You announced that he hopes to be well enough to play the Vive Latino festival in Mexico City this Thursday.

Morrissey also performed March 1 in L.A. after canceling his Feb. 24 gig at Davies Symphony Hall. Saturday's "postponement" was the fourth bailed-on Bay Area Morrissey show in less than two years. The last time Morrissey actually played a scheduled gig in the Bay Area was Dec. 2, 2009, at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland. Since then he's canceled dates on Dec. 1, 2011, Nov. 16, 2012, and Feb. 24 and now March 9 of this year.

We're checking with Morrissey's publicist for the latest details on his condition and will update this if we hear anything back.

If he'd been eating a proper diet with some meat based protein, maybe he wouldn't get sick so often.  Sadly his pathetic fanbois will gladly act as door mats and continue enabling his perpetual narcissistic ennui.

@elvagotragoACTUALLY, a vegetarian and vegan diet LOWERS your risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and many other diseases.  What Morrissey is suffering from is related to ACID REFLUX.  Which people of all diets get.  I am vegan and have acid reflux myself.  Many meat eaters develop acid reflux as well.  It has to do with stomach acid.  When those acids come back up the throat it damages, leading to your voice going out (and cancelling shows) and eventually if it goes untreated it leads to Barrett's Esophagus (hospitalization).  The fact that he has cancelled so many shows to losing his voice in the past only CONFERS that he really has barrett's esophagus and that it's a serious condition.  It's nice to say it's cause he doesn't eat meat...but that's not the reason at all.
