Yo La Tengo Is Playing an In-Store at Amoeba This Month

San Francisco is a Yo La Tengo kind of town, a place where the lauded New Jersey rock trio can come, play three nights at the Fillmore supported by the best local acts of the day, and sell out each night. (It might even be the same people going to every show.)

So while it's not surprising that the band plans to stop here on the promo tour for its new album, Fade, the venue for the band's stop did raise our eyebrows a bit.

Yo La Tengo is taking a trip up the West Coast in mid-January, but it's eschewing any regular concert dates. Instead, the group will stop right here at Amoeba Music in San Francisco on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 3 p.m. to hold a special in-store concert and signing. There's even a special poster for the San Francisco event available starting Jan. 15 -- the same day Fade sees release on Matador Records. The show is free, but only fans who bought the album at Amoeba (and can show a receipt proving it) can attend the signing. Luckily there's an indie-store-only deluxe edition of Fade that comes with a 7-inch featuring YLT covers of Todd Rundgren's "I Saw the Light" (yesss!) and Times New Viking's "Move to California."
